George Jefferson is a character from the television sitcoms All in the Family and its spin-off The Jeffersons, where he served as the main protagonist of the series (along with his wife Louise). He is portrayed by the late Sherman Hemsley who had made earlier appearances as Uncle Phil's mentor, Judge Carl Robertson.

George appears in two episodes, with the first being Will Is From Mars. George appears along with Louise at the meeting for marital couples dealing with issues. Initially, he gets along well with Will until Will makes a comment that George takes as an insult towards Louise, resulting in a fight which also causes an additional fight between Louise and Lisa when the former insults Will's appearance. The fight with George and Louise ultimately helps to bring Will and Lisa closer together.
George later appears in the second half of the series finale I, Done (Part 2), where he and Louise discuss buying the Banks' former house.
